How often do cars need new brakes? My car has 50,000 on it (2006 Focus), the vast majority of which are highway miles. I have not had any problems with the brakes (shimmy upon braking, any noises, etc.) but the dealership told me I needed new front brakes pads and rotors and new rear pads (back rotors were fine). Wouldn’t I have noticed something if the brakes were going?

I bought the new civic a few months ago and I’m planning on switching over to using royal purple synthetic oil, because everyone tells me that it’ll last a lot longer and it’s better overall. With regular oil, I’m suppose to change it every 5k miles. How often do I have to change it if I decide to switch to synthetic oil?

Right now my car has 10k miles on it….
