Isn’t it counterproductive to tax the daylights out of new cars?
Saturday, November 26th, 2005The combination of sales taxes and value-based registration fees are total disinsentives to buying new, clean, safe, efficient cars while encouraging people to keep those gas-guzzling, polluting, unsafe, rusty clunkers on the road. Where, exactly, is the logic in that? Plus, many states with emissions testing still make you test brand new cars every year while exempting the clunkers!
What a nonsensical situation! Actually, it’s the same with jacking up your property taxes as punishment for making significant home improvements.
Silliness abounds! How much better for the environment and for our standard of living if we reversed this situation. Who’s with me?
