If you buy a car and it eventually dies after tons of miles why do people buy new cars instead of a new engine?

If engines cost the same as a new car then I would understand.

The new Chevy Volt they are saying will run 40 miles on a charge before any gas is used. I am convinced this technology is ready for marketing now, but is being held off by the big oil companies that have a large part in running America. Why wouldn’t a boycott on all new cars until these cars are readily available work? Is there a website where we could start such a boycott?

I just heard another story about a 100 car pile up. All because the drivers couldn’t see in the fog. Yes I know there are fog lights but I don’t think that’s good enough. Car manufactures spend lots of money on air bags and other saftey equipment. Why not infrared cameras to protect people in fog?

I tend to find in yahoo auto, autotrader, or automart, cars that are a year to only 3 years old with less then 30,000 miles in them that were in light accidents for less then thirteen thousand dollars or lower. I’ve seen Nissan 350Z’s, Infinity G-35’s, BMW coupes, Benz, any car from 2005 and up that have light bumps in them. Is it worth buying them and fixing them up or is there a catch
