How many Mile Per Gallon do those new Smart cars get?

Andie asked:
I went into the dealership and they said that Smart Cars get 33 city and 40 highway. That doesn’t sound right to me because my car gets better then that and I have heard that other cars get better then that too and other cars are older and bigger. I was told by someone that Smart car get 65MPG. Is that true?

A friend of mine has one and the most her gets is 39 on the highway. You would think they get better mileage but they don’t. I do like them and took a ride in my friend’s and I was pretty impressed at the room inside.

They are correct. 33c/41h.
Some budget car when it takes premium juice as mentioned.
What a great deal. (Sarcasm.)

Smart cars get around 30-35 mpg’s. It doesn’t get as good mileage as you would think, for no reason whatsoever.
Smart Cars don’t get 65 mpg’s, and the Prius is actually better.
The dealer should know their car, and they are right.
Sorry to disappoint!

The dealership gave you the correct figures. The advantage of the Smart car where I live is that they cost several thousand dollars less than cars that get similar mileage, there is a $2000 government rebate when you buy one because they are considered environmentally friendly, that roadside assistance is included when you buy one, and that servicing is required only once a year or 10,000 miles or 15,000 kilometers which is a considerable savings in itself.
