Don’t buy foreign cars, even though they may have assembly lines in the U.S your money still goes back to Japan, Korea, etc. If you really want to help your country, buy American. (I own nothing but Ford and I’ve never had a problem with any of them.)
So if you think buying foreign helps our economy i’d like to hear your side of it.
I guess the masses have spoken. Have fun driving your JapCrap around town and I hope you don’t feel the weight of the buckling economy on your own shoulders. Don’t fool yourself you are part of the problem not the solution.

Also, as you point out, most foreign cars available in the US are made domestically.
What you didn’t add, is that many domestic cars are not made in the US, they’re made in Canada and Mexico.

foreign and domestic mean very little these days.

Take a good look at your Ford you might be surprised how many of its parts were not made in the US.

You’ll only buy American cars? Okay, then go put the rest of your money in Washington Mutual, and take out a loan from Fannie Mae. While your at it go apply at General Motors and then give Ben Bernake a call. Yeah, America is full of great investments………

I only buy the highest quality and up to date engineered cars I can find. American auto makers have seen the Japanese cars come across the pond for almost 40 years and have consistently refused to effectively compete with them. I’m not going to give my hard earned money to such badly run companies.
In 5 years, my ‘03 Honda Accord coupe has had one problem. The backlight on the passenger side seat heater rocker switch went out. I can’t justify buying a different brand of car.

i love to sacrifice my family’s and my own safety to support a corporation that is headquartered in the USA, but it’s only allegiance is to profiting at the expense of others

So much for free trade. If Americans stop buying foreign cars, don’t be surprised if foreigners stop buying American goods in retaliation.

I have owned quite a few cars for only being 25, none of which were less than 10 years old. In my experience the foreign cars that i have owned (toyota honda nissan vw) were better cars than the American cars i have owned (ford chevrolet pontiac dodge). So if i ever do buy a new ca then it will definitely be coming from overseas. This wasnt a question.

When you state something like this comment… you need to take a look at a Ford. I like a Ford, drove one for years and do I think it is American made car…ARE YOU KIDDING!!! They are a long way from being American made.

Impossible. UAW workers constantly downgrade the lousy company. If the workers at the Big Three **** their company why should anyone buy one of the autos. Way too late for GM, Ford, and Chrysler.

You are quite ignorant. The Cadillac’s transmission is made in France. And hmm..are you one of those people that buys a cheap pair of shoes every month cause you don’t want to spend more on a pair that lasts 5 years before breaking? Yeah you sound real smart dude. Don’t insult my intelligence with your BUY AMERICAN dogma– I buy quality merchandise, okay? Because I buy Toyotas and Hondas, the Americans that build them at the plants in this coutnry are making a decent living and have a secure job. Why? because Honda and Toyota makes cars that last and they listen to their customers and make what people want. And oh, their vehicles aren’t designed to break like GM’s. Imagine that!

If you want me to buy your American junk (I’m American by the way) then tell American automakers to stop building cars that are designed to break, and tell THEM to stop buying foreign and trying to pass it off as American(e.g. Pontiac Vibe, Chevrolet Prizm, Chevrolet Aveo). Chrysler was recently owned by a German Company for a few years. So go sell your ignorance somewhere else. If I bought American, my house would be empty and have no furnishings or small appliances, etc…

I got my friend to start buying Hondas instead of Pontiacs and he thanks me every day and can’t believe the quality difference in Honda’s favor.

The problems these American origin automakers are having is strictly a bad management problem and nothing else

How insulting it is that you want me to throw my money in the toilet on the junk that GM makes, just so an American can have a fat retirement plan, and ridiculously high salary to build cars that don’t sell. Maybe if they made cars that last longer than 1 year before something goes wrong with them, they’d solve their own problem. I don’t see Toyota, Nissan, etc complaining, all of which have plants in the U.S.A.

GM manufactures cars in every corner of the modern world. So what’s their problem? Why are their CEOs getting paid millions if they can’t sell their cars. Makes no sense to me.

Sorry, It is quite justifiable that I have no sympathy for companies like General Motors. It’s a big scam

I would really like to and I hope American auto manufacturers get their act together. I grew up in the Detroit area and I have 2 brothers who worked for Ford. I’ll tell you why I don’t buy American any more, even though I can get a Ford on the A plan.

I owned 2 Ford Taurus models. The first was a 1989 and was a good car. I sold it after owning it for several years it was decent not great, but not bad. Several years later I bought another Taurus. I believe it was late 90’s, I don’t remember the exact year. I got it new, and I couldn’t believe how chintzy it was. The exterior just seemed to be made of lesser quality steel. I bought a Mazda 323 between these 2 Fords, and I couldn’t believe how reliable and solid it was, and how good the gas mileage was. I’ve also owned 2 GM cars which were absolute garbage. One a Chevy Caprice Wagon had constant problems with door handles and sun visors breaking and falling off-I will never buy a GM product again. After the last Taurus I bought a Honda Accord which was absolutely the best automobile that I have ever owned. I am a Honda fan. I hope Ford gets it act together because I would LOVE to buy a car made by an American manufacturer.

Also you UAW bashers. The biggest problem with USA auto companies is the absolute short-sighted management who insisted on making those godawful gas-guzzling SUV’s.

If you own a Ford and you have never had trouble with it, I am going to accuse you of BS. Unless maybe you don’t drive it much. US auto makers have been sticking us with junk lemons for years.

  14. mimi Says:

I agree with you we need to take care of OUR country but the auto industry needs to make it where they are comparable to foreign auto makers.I know when we wanted to buy a Ford a couple of years ago they wanted to charge us $6000.00 extra for an extended warranty. But I do totally agree with you but we need to go even further and drill here in the usa and not rely on oversea .We are selling our self out here in the USA

  15. Lahcene O Says:

i would never buy an american car i bought a ford a couple years ago and regret it im gonna stick to Hondas that i trust

  16. scrooge Says:

it should be against the law to buy foreign cars.
