Im working on my car, a project, ( no i’m not a thief) lol. I see that its for safety say for when ur up a hill, and ofcourse anti-theft reasons.
If the newr cars today have them, how come u just hear of them jus hot wiring the car and they go? They do it so quick, u never hear of them breaking the steerin lock.

All new cars have them as far as I can tell. Cars before about 1968 didn’t have any steering lock at all. The ignition key was usually located on the dash.

No, not all years vehicles have steering locks….of course you have to go back beyond 1970 to find these vehicles. There are a few after 1970 that did not have steering locks, but they are very rare. Hope this helps.

old, old, old cars does not have lock on the steering wheel.when a thief hot wire a car, they also break the ignition lock which disengage the steering lock in order to drive away.when you see a vehicle with a cloth cover the ignition lock on the road, that is a sign that the ignition lock is broken.
