From what I understand they will be going to Mustangs and Camaros. I may be wrong on this but it has been mentioned. Any news on if and when this might happen.

I have not heard that. Sounds cool though. I will keep my ears open for that.

The rumor is 2009 but nothing is definite yet. I know the manufactures are for it so I’m sure it will happen.

Jayski is saying 2009, Mustangs, camero’s, and chargers, with a yet-to-be-named Toyota, covering modified COT chassis, with smaller splitters, and spoilers instead of wings. They are also talking about going to 110 wheelbase to match the Cup cars.

    It will never happen.

The series now known as the Nationwide Racing Series is redefining itself so it will no longer be like the minor league to the major league. Three road courses and an international flavor will make it different from the Cup series, along with the pony cars. I have read that the chassis will be similar to the CoT, but not exactly the same thing. I think they are supposed to have a lower center-of-gravity, as well.
It’s all supposed to happen in 2009.
I think the majority of driver development will take place in the ARCA. NASCAR Grand National, and Elite Division series.’

NASCAR plans on returning the PONY cars to the series in 2009.This will take place of the current Busch cars.

I had not heard that rumor, but it would be really cool to see the pony cars racing.
