Are there any new cars that don’t have so much electronic gadgetry?

I rented a new car last week and there was no key lock for the trunk. It was opened electronically which means that if the battery was dead your stuff is stuck in the trunk. I’d like to find a car that is more mechanical and less electronic. What new models should I look at for low-tech but high quality?

All that high tech gadgetry drives the price of the cars up and the reliability down. There is no such thing as basic transportation anymore. Years ago a Civic was a basic, get you where you’re going car and now it’s full of high tech electronic gadgets.
I think if you look outside the circle of popular cars you’ll find something less techie.
