Don’t you think some of those new compact cars look ugly?

I would much rather drive a 1987 Camaro IROC-Z with that
8-cylinder that needs occasional maintanence than drive a new car like that UGLY Honda Insight, UGLY Chevy Aveo, or UGLY Ford Echo.

I never had an 8-cylinder and it’d be cold day in hell when I’d choose my next vehicle to be some UGLY new car that just doesn’t look COOL like that Firebird or Camaro.

All these are ugly, but the Camaro is far uglier.

I agree with your sentiments. I think you mean the Toyota Echo or the Ford Focus. A lot of small cars nowadays are so tall because people just love the high seating positions of SUVs and seniors like me like the ease of getting in and out of a high vehicle. But tall sub- and compact coupes, sedans, and hatchbacks are becoming rather ungainly. We need to bring back the lower and wider design philosophy of years past.

Smaller cars get better gas mileage usually.. Why do you need a large engine on a car????? That makes no sense what so ever.. Thats why global warming has arrived

1. The Honda Insight isn’t new.
2. Ford doesn’t make the Echo.
3. The Echo isn’t new.
4. When gas prices hit $4.00, you can have your 20 year old Camaro.

I’m with you on that point. For the life of me I can’t imagine why anyone would shell-out hard earned money for an ugly car. WTH?? Can you just imagine walking out to your garage everyday and climbing into a Scion Xb? I swear, I would puke every time I made a payment on that automotive abortion. The Xd is just as bad, the Malibu is as dull as cold oatmeal, the Maxima looks like a hundred other cars on the road — I will never understand the logic of producing dull and/or ugly cars.

Cool to look at versus saving the planet. Hmmm….
Toyota echoes weren’t all that cute, I’ll admit. But the Ford Focus was, and if nothing else, Prius’s are adorable, in an eco-friendly sort of way.
Some of those hybrids are great though, like the Honda hybrids look just like the real deal! Only without the whole $50 to fill the tank bit…
