i thought about that too.. many cars have screens built into the back of headrests...

some answered with a good reason for kids...

but i also think they dont want to put it for the driver to watch.. or he'll have an acident every time its switched on while driving...

so, its on the back to force the driver to stop/not-drive and sit in the back seat and watch there!!
sometimes u want to watch something while you're outside! :)

Let me tell you that haveing a DVD player in the car does help to keep kids occupied, however, if you may think having such a thing in your car is unhealthy for your children, then you can choose more educational movies for them to watch. For exaple: movies that have life lessons or teach you something new.(in this case, Spongebob would not be an option) Even though it may not seem like it, DVD players in the car are very amusing to children as young as one and a half. Movies such as Baby Enstien, Barney, The Wiggles, ect. are very edcational for children of this age.(parent, trust me this will work if you have trouble with your todler on car rides) So to answer your question, DVD players in the car can be healthy for children if they watch the right movies.

Honestly, I don't believe there's any logic to it at all. It's distracting to all other drivers on the road, and yes i can't say it doesn't keep the kids busy but whatever happened to actually talking too them and interacting with them instead of putting them in front of a television. Where are they supposed to develop their personalities? From spongbob??
